Wi-Fi Privacy

We’re announcing a pretty cool feature today: Wi-Fi privacy. We’ve done it in a way you haven’t  seen before.

We all know the dangers of using our phones on unsecured Wi-Fi networks. Tools like Firesheep make it very easy for someone to hack your mobile phone while you’re enjoying a latte at your favorite coffee shop.

If consumers want to protect their passwords and private data when on these unsecured Wi-Fi networks, enabling a Wi-Fi privacy solution is a very good idea. Most solutions for this involve someone downloading a VPN app. The VPN then must be running at all times – which can drain a mobile battery faster, slow down data, and conflict with other VPNs the user might need for work.

Our Wi-Fi privacy solution is quite different. It is embedded by a mobile device manufacturer or mobile carrier directly onto the phone and provides an opportunity to create an additional revenue source. Mobolize will activate Wi-Fi privacy as soon as a user connects to an unsecured Wi-Fi network. As soon as the user disconnects from that network, the Wi-Fi privacy solution turns off until it is needed again.

This makes life so much easier for consumers as they know they are being protected automatically and don’t need to worry about downloading a separate app or deal with negative impacts on their mobile device performance.
