Test Your Cybersecurity Knowledge for “Infinity and Beyond”

Cybersecurity awareness is key not just for the month of October but for every month technology intersects our lives. That means for “infinity and beyond” as Buzz Lightyear says.

Unfortunately, with all the great things technology brings to corporations, organizations and users, there are hacktivist groups or lone wolf hackers who see opportunities to hack into networks where they can gain access to information or shut networks down for ransom money. They cause great harm, so being better aware of the issues and how to protect all devices, especially mobile ones, is key to protection.

Test yourself to see how cybersecurity savvy you are, especially for mobile devices used outside the corporate network.

  1. According to IBM’s 2022 Security Analysis Report, the average cost of a data breach for corporations was $1.7 million higher where _______________ was a factor in causing the breach. (Fill in the blank.)
    1. A traditional VPN
    2. Dated software
    3. Remote work
    4. Falling asleep on the job
  2. In IBM’s 2022 Security Analysis Report, the most common initial attack vector responsible for 19% of network breaches is:
    1. Phishing
    2. Malicious insiders
    3. Email compromise
    4. Compromised (lost or stolen) credentials
  3. The second most common initial attack vector for network breaches is:
    1. Phishing
    2. Malicious insiders
    3. Email compromise
    4. Compromised (lost or stolen) credentials
  4. The European Union has said a ransomware attack takes place every 11 seconds and the global annual cost of cybercrime is estimated at _____ euros in 2021. (Fill in the blank.)
    1. 4 billion
    2. 5.5 trillion
    3. 18 billion
    4. 2 trillion
  5. APWG’s Phishing Activity Trends Report found that in the second quarter of 2022 there were 1,097,811 phishing attacks, which is the _______ for phishing ever observed.
    1. Lowest quarter
    2. Biggest quarter
  6. According to IBM, the global average cost of a data breach reached a record high of $4.35 million and 83% of organizations have had more than one breach. The US has the highest data breach cost of any country – $____. (Fill in the blank.)
    1. $5 million
    2. $20.3 million
    3. $9.44 million
    4. $11.2 million
  7. Gartner predicts that by 2023, ___% of enterprises will phase out their remote access VPN in favor of ZTNA. (Fill in the blank.)
    1. 60%
    2. 10%
    3. 100%
    4. 30%
  8. In what year did the first internet hack attack happen?
    1. 2000
    2. 2002
    3. 1998
    4. 2005
  9. On September 20, 2022, it was reported the personal data of a “very small number” of customers was accessed by hackers after they broke into the corporate network via employee email accounts. What company was that?
    1. IBM
    2. Texaco
    3. Uber
    4. American Airlines
  10. What are mobile devices?
    1. Smartphones only. They fit in your pocket.
    2. Cars, trains, boats, airplanes
    3. Smartphones, laptops and tablets
    4. AI glasses because you can virtually go anywhere

And here are the extra credit questions about the on-device Mobolize Data Management Engine and its leadership technology for mobile device (how is that defined?) cybersecurity.

  1. Bringing Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) to remote devices used outside the corporate network (laptops, smartphones and tablets) requires what on-device technology and what is the advantage?
    1. Fine-grain routing which precision controls data traffic routing at the application level which allows SASE to work on all mobile devices
    2. Traditional VPNs because they are inexpensive
    3. A special app so it’s not the corporation’s responsibility
    4. Access to any personal hotspot available in coffee shops so it’s easy to use
  2. Why is using a single client that works on all mobile device operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, Chrome and Linux) important for mobile security?
    1. Makes maintenance easier, faster and more manageable
    2. Allows a faster time to market
    3. Provides a single SmartVPN® client for both ZTNA and SWG
    4. All the above

The answers are below where you can see that the issues of cybersecurity for laptops, smartphones and tablets used away from the corporate network are a major part of building for the future. CEOs, CTOs, IT professionals and every person employed in a corporation or organization needs to understand how big and important the problem is. So far, according to IBM, only about a third of organizations have a Zero Trust approach and close to a half of organizations have no plans in place to deploy zero trust.

That’s great news for cybercriminals. But bad news for any organization that needs to keep their data safe, especially on mobile devices. That’s probably why we celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October, but the awareness – and acting on it – should last for infinity and beyond.
