When using the Wi-Fi Boost application, would the device only use Wi-Fi or cellular?

Wi-Fi Boost will use cellular to keep you connected and your applications and services running as needed. At times this will be leveraging both Wi-Fi and cellular (slow/bad Wi-Fi) or No Cellular (great Wi-Fi), or All Cellular (Wi-Fi dead zone)
