Making Smartphones Smarter
The Telecom Council has one again given us the chance to air our perspectives on mobile networks and the data tsunami. The piece is titled “Making The Smartphone Smarter for a Better Cloud”. I hope you’ll take a minute to read it.
In a nutshell, we look at how the shift to cloud computing doesn’t mean that our endpoint devices (smartphones, PCs, etc.) are less important. In fact, their capabilities are more important than ever before because with cloud computing, our data lives further away from us, and the networks we use to connect to that data aren’t 100% available and reliable.
Onboard storage on our mobile devices becomes more important, so we can cache the content we use most often. For carriers, the benefit is less network traffic, a simple way for them to manage the data tsunami.
